They did it all: Truss manufacturing, bulk materials distribution and a retail store.

The Experience

St. Mary’s, GA

When Jason Settles, President of Griffin Lumber & Supply, was ready to build their newest location in St. Mary's, his first call was to Clint Darnell, Senior Account Manager of CT Darnell Construction. "We've worked with CT Darnell for years, and there's no company we trust more to bring our latest vision to life."

The Vision

And by vision, he meant double vision - literally. The new Griffin location would not only feature a full-service lumberyard, it would also boast a comprehensive truss manufacturing facility. Two unique operations. One convenient location. According to Darnell, it just made sense. "They had the resources. They had the land. And they had the demand."

CT Darnell was tasked with a complete design-build for the new location, a role they're uniquely qualified for. With nearly 40 years of proven experience in the Lumber and Building Materials industry, CT Darnell is singularly positioned to deliver a state-of-the-art dual-purpose LBM facility - from inspiration to completion.

Project Details

According to Clint Darnell, “It was a true greenfield site. We were able to work closely with the Griffin team to identify their needs so we could design a footprint that maximized their space.”

Settles agreed, “Nobody knows our business like the CT Darnell team. They dotted every “I” and crossed every ”T”. From smart storage to SKU management, to facility flow, they designed both the lumber operation and the truss operation to work independently, yet also together – maximizing safe access to our inventory for faster load-ins and quicker turns.”

“It was important for us to be able to service South Georgia, as well as newer territory in North Florida” said Settles. “The growth in that area of FL is significant, and with this new facility, we are absolutely ready to grow!”
